Double Meanings

Another example for the sometimes disturbing fact that languages can have double or even more meanings:

"I do not have their permission for publishing this photo"

1. I havent asked them to give me their permission.
2. I have a written document from the subject which states that I'm not allowed to publish their photos.

Oil slick

We ask for oil and its derivatives, and British Petrol BP delivers the oil and its derivatives, and carries the risks...

Each time "you [and I] fill her up" you're asking for oil.

Born to be wild.

You have to get older
to be born again.

The Media

The media...

...aren't the media like a pair of spectacles through which you view the world.

It's important not to forget to see the optician from time to time.
