Nature dictates and requires that there's a certain level of beauty in both partners to let mating take place.
Also, there has to be a "good fragrance" which surrounds the individuals that want to be close. We also could say that "the chemistry between the two" has to be right.

Many if not most people don't know about the existence of this basic law of nature, or they ignore it.
This causes a lot of suffering.
