I'll be a hundred and ten in the not too distant future, the old ship's got a few blotches, but she's still on course!

...is it really us?...

Biological versus digital minds.

I think there exist other ways of thinking and conscience than just the biological system which makes out our brain.

At a minimum to achieve the goal of thinking like our brain does, it should be sufficient to create a memory or computer with the same number of bits as our brain has cells, or even more in the case that a biological cell should represent more than one bit.

A world inhabited by entities (we might dub them robots) would have clear advantages: instead of bodies made of billions of cells prone to all sorts of diseases, feeling pain, metabolism etc, all it would take for a sophisticated system would be mechanical devices like hinges and joints and a control unit, but no digestive system, lymphatic system, blood stream. Everything would be supported by mechanical and electrical and electronic parts which are easy to maintain or replace, without any uncomfortable feelings.
